Murder Most Fowl

I'm not a happy camper. Something managed to get into our chicken coop and killed all 9 of our chickens. We had to bury 8 of them; there wasn't anything left of the ninth but feathers.

We have seen where we can make improvements to the coop. I'd also put in a very high roost, as the low one was knocked down but the higher one wasn't high enough to keep them safe.

All the time and energy and socializing we put into them--gone. It's hard to believe.

So sorry about that.

I think our high perch is about 5 feet off the ground. We have had lots of losses outdoors, but so far the only thing that has managed to get inside the coop to kill a chicken was a snake. It killed (and was trying to swallow) a pullet that I would have sworn was way too big for it.

This is the very reason I don't live in the country. That is too scary! Maybe a coyote?

Aaawww, I'm sorry. that is the very reason I'm going to build Chicken Alcatraz for mine. Had mine killed like that at my last place.
